Mysore Style Classes
Beginners Welcome.
The best way to learn Ashtanga Yoga is in the Mysore classroom. Students are taught one on one (within a group format) starting from the basics and working toward a sustainable practice that will be yours forever.
Sunday-Thurs 7-10am,
Friday 8:30-10am.

Led Primary Series
As per tradition, Led Primary Series classes will continue Friday mornings. Start time is 7am. Estimated 90 minutes.
This class is for students who are already familiar with the series. Its a great opportunity to refine cadence and enjoy community!
Fridays 7-8:30am.

Once independence has been established in the practice, students are welcome to join our Zoom room.

Tradition
Genevieve was introduced to yoga in the 1990’s. More recently, she has been a regular student of Andrew Hillam. She has studied Yoga as a practice as well as Philosophy, in addition to Chanting with Andrew for many years. Her studies have naturally & deeply been influenced by the Jois lineage, .
She continues to study shastras with: Andrew Hillam, Shikantha Shastri, Dr HV Nagaraj Rao, and Maha Lakshmi BH Mala.
Chitta Prasadanam
Patanjali defines the process of classical Yoga in the Yoga Sutras. Stilling the fluctuations of the mind being a primary function to yoga.
When we practice well, the mind can become as clear as a calm lake. Reflecting the outer world without distortion from our own impressions, judgements or inner dialogues.
Method
Posture, breath, and looking place.
The tristhana of the Ashtanga Vinyasa method correspond to the cleansing of the body, nervous system and the mind. Cleansing the body requires fire and air. We stoke our internal fire with steady breath. Long even breathing stabilizes the nervous system. Dristi (looking place) purifies and stabilizes the mind.
This is the ultimate goal of the yogic process... To clean and clear the body, the nervous system, and the mind so that our inner light can shine (According to the Yoga Shastras).
